Ammonites are perhaps the best-known fossil, possessing the typically ribbed spiral-shaped shell. These creatures lived in the seas between 240 and 65 million years ago, when they died out along with the dinosaurs. Ammonites belong to a group of predators known as cephalopods, which includes their living relatives, octopus, squid, cuttlefish, and nautilus.

Orthoceras are the remains of extinct marine animals, therefore, known as the fossil stone and is around 400 million years old. The ancestor to the squid, over 500 to 190 million years ago, they are marked with a date to the lower Ordovician to Triassic ages.
